Abstract:
This study aimed to clarify the optimal scheme of topdressing during the hardening stage of pine wood nematoderesistant Masson pine cuttings. Using cuttings transplanted in peat substrate with slow-release base fertilizer as test materials, eight treatments were established, including three concentrations of liquid compound fertilizer(8.0%, 2.0% and 0.5%, T
1~T
3), three application rates of solid compound fertilizer(0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 g/plant, T
4~T
6), slow-release fertilizer(4.0 g/plant, T
7) and blank control(CK). The survival rate, seedling height and ground diameter were determined after nine months of hardening. The results showed that topdressing significantly affected the survival rate and height of seedlings, but had no significant effect on ground diameter. The 2.0% liquid compound fertilizer achieved the highest survival rate but resulted in lower seedling height. The high-concentration liquid fertilizer(8.0%) obviously inhibited seedling survival and growth. Seedlings treated with solid compound fertilizer at 2.0 g/plant had the maximum seedling height, while their survival rate decreased. In conclusion, the seedlings in the blank control group exhibited the best comprehensive performance in survival rate and seedling height. The slow-release base fertilizer could fully meet the nutrient demands of pine wood nematode-resistant Masson pine cuttings during hardening, and no additional topdressing was required in practical production. The findings can provide a reference for the hardening and cultivation of such cuttings.
