Abstract: The paper introduced the development of major project for high-resolution earth observation systems and the current service capabilities of domestic remote sensing satellite data, analyzed that the developing county-level remote sensing applications has become the main trend in the development of the spatial information industry in China. The paper took Jiushui County of Jiangxi Province, an old revolutionary base with agriculture, forestry, culture and tourism as its backbone industries, as the research object. Based on Jiushui current situation of natural resources and the current development of remote sensing application, this paper explored the idea for developing the county-level remote sensing application industry, combining the actual needs of economic and social development of Jishui County with the national foundation for satellite remote sensing technology. The conditions of late start, shallow development and lack of systematic construction in the remote sensing application industry of Jishui were also be considered. Based on field research data and social-economic statistical data, the paper explored the requirements for remote sensing applications in Jishui County and proposes relevant suggestions on the development of the remote sensing application industry in Jishui County. The results of research had certain guiding significance for the future development of remote sensing application industry in Jishui, which also provided references for establishing remote sensing application demonstrations and formulating promotional policies in the county-level areas.
