Abstract:
In order to investigate the application effect of biodegradable film on fresh sweet and glutinous corn, a total of 10 treatments were set up with 8 different specifications of degradable film, ordinary plastic film (CK
1) and no mulch film (CK
2) to analyze the effects on growth, yield and benefits of fresh maize. The results showed that the application of all evaluated mulching films effectively accelerate the growth of maize, and the whole growth period was 2~3 days earlier than CK
2. The cultivars ‘Shanghai Black 10’and‘Zhejiang Black 10’ exhibited the greatest plant height and leaf area. Furthermore, the stem diameter of the maize plants treated with the four black mulching films was significantly greater compared to the two control treatments. The chlorophyll content in the upper, ear, and lower leaves of the plants treated with‘Zhejiang Black 10’ was the highest. The application of film mulching enhanced the photosynthetic characteristics of maize leaves. The Pn exhibited by‘Shanghai White 8’ was observed to be the superior among the treatments, whereas‘Shanghai White 10’ demonstrated the highest
Tr and
Gs, with all these parameters significantly exceeding those of the control treatment CK
2. The Ci for‘Zhejiang Black 10’ was found to be the highest, but it did not differ significantly from that of the control treatment CK
2. The treatments with the highest yield were‘Shanghai Black 10’ and‘Shanghai White 10’, whereas the highest commercial spike rates were observed in‘Shanghai White 10’ and‘Shanghai White 8’, with no significant differences observed among the various treatments. The maximum weight per panicle was observed for‘Zhejiang Black 10’and‘Zhejiang Black 8’. The weight per panicle for the four black films was significantly greater than that of the two control treatments. The treatments conferring the greatest economic benefit were ‘Shanghai Black 10’,‘Shanghai White 10’ and‘Zhejiang Black 10’. To sum up, the biodegradable films‘Zhejiang Black 10’, ‘Shanghai Black 10’ and‘Shanghai White 10’ were the most beneficial for the growth, photosynthetic characteristics, yield, and benefits of fresh maize, and suitable for plastic film mulching cultivation of spring maize in Hangzhou.
